Manganese Ore is essential to iron and steel production by virtue of its sulfur-fixing, deoxidizing, and alloying properties. Over ninety percent of manganese ore is used as deoxidizer, desulfurizer for iron-making and steel-making industries and raw material for producing ferro-manganese. The countries which are abundant in manganese ores in the world are: South Africa, Ukraine, Gabon, Australia, Brazil, Georgia, India in turn. South Africa and Ukraine account for over 80% of the world’s identified resources. The basic reserve in China reaches 560 Mt Year of 2004 with a very low average grade of 21%. It mainly distributes in Guangxi, Hunan, Guizhou, Yunnan and Sichuan.
